Social Justice

UPDATE 11.9.2023 UUCC adopted the following UU Eighth Principle at the Annual Meeting, June 4, 2023.

“We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”

The Eighth Principle materials that were here have been moved to their own section. On the menu to the left, scroll down to The Eighth UU Principle.

Getting Involved in Social Justice at UUCC:

Unitarian Universalism is an active faith tradition, with a call to continually put our faith into action. We promote social justice, equity and compassion through words and actions. Our time and resources and leadership forge connections within the congregation toward our outreach to the larger community.

  • We welcome those who are interested in helping the church and our community to join the Social Justice Committee. We meet, form goals and objectives in the areas of direct service, education, witnessing and solidarity, then focus on projects for the church year of September to May.
  • We continue to support and participate in Lifespan Faith Formation events for all ages,  in order to become familiar with the many facets and complexities of issues.
  • Become involved in various activities, some ongoing and some related to emerging situations.

Social Justice Service on the second Sunday of February each year celebrates our faith in action, engages us with Social Justice as a critical part of our Unitarian Universalism, and invites us to ongoing social action in our lives, the life of the community and the larger world.
