About LGBTQ Justice

Members of this congregation worked tirelessly with many others toward the vision of marriage for all same-sex couples.  Finally on November 6, 2012, Maine became the fifth state in New England to legalize same-sex marriage with a 53 percent vote in favor and 47 percent opposed.  The definition of marriage in the state of Maine is now the following: Marriage is the legally recognized union of 2 people.  The law took effect on December 29, 2012.
